The Sun is Shining Down

Not having access to a TV, I downloaded NetFlix & have watched a couple of series on my laptop: Orange is the New Black & House of Cards. Loved them both! What an experience! This song featured in the series 'House of Cards' ... wow!

"How many more days can you hold out,
How much longer can you wait?" she asked.
There was a time I thought I, I could answer
But my tongue gets tied as my thoughts drift away.

Glory, Glory - Hallelujah
The sun is shining, shining down
Glory, Glory - Hallelujah
I'm alive and I'm feeling, feeling fine

All those simple thoughts all those peaceful dreams,
Share the space with a hard worked, hard worked day
But it's the little things, the little things not expectation
That make life worth living, worth living.

Glory, Glory - Hallelujah
The sun is shining, shining down
Glory, Glory - Hallelujah
I'm alive, and the world Lord, world is fine

Waitrose

Time for some shopping therapy at the supermarket. Now, Waitress was the first supermarket I was introduced to when I arrived & was interested in a return visit. Now, as far as supermarkets go I liked it, now I love it!

I headed for the cafe first, for a very late lunch & what do I see ... a sign for butternut squash risotto. Now anything with the word 'risotto' in it is mine!

Being a lover of marzipan, I would have loved to have had the Marzipan Star Mince Pie, but ........next time

Now look at this plastic cooler bag! How cool is that! Everywhere you go you have to pay for plastic bags anyway, but a cooler bag, as cool as this just had to be had!

Lots of wines were on sale from all over the world & here's one example of our good old Aussie wines ..... Jacob's Creek, no less & 25% off !

Now being a 'flavour freak' there were a few items that caught my eye! I bought the fig yogurt & the rhubarb yogurt. Gee, the lemon curd one sounds beautiful .... next time!

How could I go past the Harissa Chicken & Tabbouleh Salad with  orange yogurt dressing? That's lunch tomorrow!

Also being a 'soup freak' & a lover of Stilton cheese & cauliflower cheese ... well, anything to do with cheese basically,  I came across these interesting flavours, which just had to be sampled!

Found some crazy beer 'Fursty Ferrett' made by Badgers, a beer making company since 1777 ... wow!

'Badger, one of Britain's most respected independent brewers, has brewed fine distinctive ales for well over 200 years. Today the company is run by the fifth generation of the Woodbridge family'

Now after all of that shopping I needed another bag and this one 'caught my eye' ... how cute!

My little treat today was a lovely Bakewell Slice, which was calling out to me as I was about to leave "Buy me... buy me!" So I did :)

End of another perfect day ... with a Bakewell Slice this time mmm .... memories :)

Woodbridge Library

Let me introduce you to Woodbridge Library, a place of tranquility I often visit on my trips into town.

Its a great place to relax over a nice cup of coffee & to read the newspapers.

Today I glanced through 'The Times', starting at the sports pages and that glorious Davis Cup win by Great Britain.

Then I noticed some National Health Service articles, which interested me. Being in a house without access to a TV, I've listened to a fair bit of radio & there's been much discussion about the NHS & the issuing of 'black alerts', with the situation expected to worsen as Winter approaches.
Many hospitals continue to be placed on 'black alert' ........

AN NHS ‘black’ alert is a warning to the healthcare community that a hospital is facing greater demand for services than it can handle. A hospital spokesman said: “The black alert is an indication to the rest of the healthcare community that we are under real pressure and demand on our organisation exceeds our capacity and the number of beds we have available.

The library also has a sale of books they no longer wanted to keep. They were 50p each, just over $1 & there was one that caught my eye, that I thought would be very entertaining:

As he states in his introduction 'Paperweight' aspires to be thought of as no more than a kind of literary guacamole into which the tired and hungry reader may from time to time wish to dip the tortilla chip of his or her curiosity."

Do You Hear The People Sing?

The 'Aquarius Singers' at Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre sang in remembrance of all the people who were killed in Paris this month: Les Miserables: Do you Hear The People Sing? It's such an amazing song, brings a tear to your eye & is worthy of sharing one of the official versions here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMYNfQlf1H8

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes.

Combeferre:
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?

Courfeyrac:
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!

All:
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Feuilly:
Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of France!

All:
Do you hear the people sing!
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre

Bury St Edmunds you did yourself proud! What a gorgeous place and the Fayre was AMAZING. Everyone should put it on their calendar for next year. You really need to stay here for four days, a week even, to appreciate all of the wonderful stalls, shops, events & local attractions. Checkout the brochure in the link below. Well done St Edmundsbury Borough Council and your team of workers!

First of all some views of Bury St Edmunds and its magnificent cathedral.........

The Wolf Trail

What a fantastic day! A day when I also met up with my nephew, Nick, after 35 years, one of the highlights of my trip & it was a delight to meet his partner, Justine as well, what a beautiful couple:)

My all time childhood favourite ride was there, the horse roundabout!

I bought lots of memories .... hot roasted chestnuts, liquorice, pork pies, scotch eggs, mince pies & something new ... Duck (which I love) Wraps.

Loved the hot roasted chestnuts & the Duck Wraps

Would have loved to have bought these ... but I was strong!
